Representatives of DPR Ombudsman visit Social Rehabilitation Centre in Khartsysk

Staff of DPR Ombudsman Office inspected the provision of services in Social and Physical Rehabilitation Centre for disabled persons and children with disabilities of Administration of Khartsysk.

At the moment, 46 persons with physical and mental disabilities undergo outpatient treatment in the institution, including 28 children.

The Centre occupies three separate blocks on the second floor of the city swimming pool. There is a room with exercise equipment and sports items. Also, there is a piano, a music station and a modern TV set. A special area has been created for playing games and doing creative arts – handicrafts, embroidery and drawing. A study room has some shelves with educational toys and books. The other room has two computers and a small library. There is also a computer room. The third block is for administrative rooms.

The Centre carries out comprehensive social and physical rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, aimed at correcting their health problems, developing abilities and strengthening their domestic and community living skills. Since the institution is located in the same building as the city swimming pool, patients have the opportunity to go swimming throughout the year under a specialist’s supervision. As part of social rehabilitation, psychological support and vocational guidance are carried out, occupational therapy and art therapy are implemented.

In order to facilitate comprehensive development of the spiritual and creative potential of the patients, the Centre regularly organises cultural and leisure activities dedicated to holidays and memorial days, as well as poetry readings, sports games and contests, meetings with interesting people. The children attend public events in Khartsysk and other cities of the Donetsk People’s Republic

The conditions of providing services in the Social and Physical Rehabilitation Centre for disabled persons and children with disabilities of Administration of Khartsysk received positive assessment.

DPR Ombudsman Daria Morozova expressed gratitude to the administration and staff of the facility for faithful implementation of their duties.
