On 19 December, senior representatives of DPR Ombudsman Office took part in a meeting of the Interim Commission of the DPR People’s Council on Activity Control and Coordination in the areas most affected by the armed aggression of Ukraine.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Public Headquarters for Frontline Districts, of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and representatives of the City Administration of Donetsk.

At the meeting, three draft regulations were reviewed. They are aimed at establishing economic, social and legal guarantees to support internally displaced persons and affected citizens, as well as protect their legitimate interests in the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Each document contains different ways to solve the most acute issues. The draft regulations were developed by the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman together with the Interim Commission of the previous term and one of the deputies of the DPR People’s Council.

The principled position of the DPR Ombudsman is that it is necessary to adopt the law on internally displaced persons in order to establish their status and resolve issues of ensuring adequate social protection for them, on the basis of which sub-legal normative legal acts could be developed to regulate certain legal relations.

Following the discussion, it was decided to perform a detailed comparative analysis of the submitted draft regulations.
