Dear residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic! I wholeheartedly congratulate you on the occasion of Human Rights Day!

In 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the first universal international human rights instrument. The International Human Rights Day was first celebrated in 1950, after the General Assembly adopted a resolution that called on all states to establish Human Rights Day to be marked on December 10. On this day, the primacy of the basic values of each person was proclaimed – the right to life, freedom and dignity, equality in rights – political, civil, economic and social.

The full realization of human rights and freedoms is the foundation of a just, democratic and secure state, its well-being and stability. It is extremely important that all residents of the Republic not only know their rights, but they are really aware of them and advocate strongly for them.

Being on the post of the Human Rights Ombudsman, I will continue to make every effort for the democratic development of our state, where human rights and freedoms will always be genuinely meaningful. I congratulate everyone on Human Rights Day! I sincerely wish you new achievements and fruitful results in your noble work for the sake of the rule of law in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Human Rights Ombudsman in the DPR Daria Morozova.
