Representatives of the DPR Human Rights Ombudsman Office conducted an inspection of the educational process and living conditions in the state educational institution “Donetsk Special Boarding School No.19”.

Currently, 84 children with visual and hearing impairments aged 5 to 19 are students (grades 1 to 11-12) of the facility. At the time of the inspection, 10 children had been on a trip to Moscow, where they had excursions. The excursion has been organized with the support of charitable organizations.

Representatives of the Human Rights Ombudsman noted the improvements made since the previous visit, held on October 30, 2018. Thus, the boarding school was additionally equipped with 10 computer complexes for visually impaired children, 5 special printers and 5 Braille machines, which are actively used in the educational process.

As part of the visit, representatives of the Ombudsman Office met the leading staff of the institution. They discussed living conditions, medical treatment, education, cultural and disciplinary measures. They also followed up the implementation of recommendations given as a result of the previous inspection. Representatives of the administration of the boarding school reported that partial replacement and modernization of the flooring was carried out, work is underway to replace the plate sign of the institution.

Education and living environment for children in the Donetsk Special Boarding School No.19 received a positive assessment from the staff of DPR Ombudsman Office.

DPR Ombudsman Daria Morozova expressed gratitude to the administration and staff of the facility for faithful implementation of their duties.
